Well we now have 2 second opinions arranged!! Well it is so important we see the best people, so I thought why stop at 1 second opinon when you can get 2!!!!
On Monday we are going to see Prof Tim Eisen in Cambridge and then on Tuesday we are going to Manchester to see Prof Rob Hawkins.
Tom has been amazing at helping us set these meetings up and Steve and I are so pleased that we are able to see these 2 leading experts in the Kidney Cancer world in such a short space of time.
It means that by the middle of next week we will have a clear idea of the way forward on treatment for Steve. Which is very important as Steve is struggling at night with the pain and Tom doesn't want Steve to wait the 8 weeks as he originally thought.
So I think its likely we will go to see Tom on Thursday to discuss next steps.
All of this is of course weather dependant! But where their is a will there is a way! And we sure have lots of determination to get to see these doctors.
I will of course post updates when we have seen the doctors and as always thanks for your comments it means a lot to Steve and I.
And as for the cycling challenge ....... well the snow has somewhat hampered my training plans but I will be commencing next week or as soon as the weather approves. I now have a couple of cycling companions in my brother, friend Samantha and Jeanie
And for those that have already sponsored me then thank you and if you would like to sponsor me for this good cause of Kidney Cancer then please go to the link on the right hand side of the blog.
Very best of luck you two, if anyone deserves a positive outlook its you two. Keep fighting.

I am so pleased that you are going for second opinion(s)and able to get in to see these experts so quickly.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if you had a chance to check out the 'The Enemy Returns' blog that I mentioned last time. If not, perhaps try to take a minute before your appointments if you wish to learn a little about the MDX-1106 trial and the success that Angelo is having with his lung mets. Today he posted the following comment to me:
"As far as MDX-1106 goes, this has been a miracle for me and many others. I have befriended some people in the trial and we have all gone on to responses. It has been wonderful. The question that does remain is about durability and that will be seen I am sure, but we’ll take it one step at a time. To go from a set of lungs that looked like Swiss cheese to having almost all the cancer gone in a two month period was pretty amazing. And all that with virtually no side effects other than slight fatigue makes it even more impressive."

I wish you all the best and will keep you in my thoughts next week.
